Coun. Imdad Hussain has resigned from the Labour Party after he was suspended for two years, when it discovered he has been banned as a company director.
Coun Hussain continued to represent the Heaton ward as an independent whilst the Labour party him, but they found he had breached Party rules and suspended him until 2014.
Now Coun Hussain has announced his resignation and has stated that he intends to join the "Peace Party and become their only councillor and that he intends to allow them to parachute him into Middlesborough to fight their Parliamentary by-Election later this month.
He bemoaned the Labour party, saying that they had disregarded his 20 year unbroken membership of the party and that there had been a prolongued witch-hunt against him.
